BSB’s Kitchen Registry Must Haves!
Jessica Bishop Headshot

my favorite registry must haves for your newlywed kitchen.

As we head into prime gift purchasing time of year, I thought what better to share than the best kitchen items to add to your wedding gift registry!

I popped over to do some online browsing at my favorite store, Target, and picked out some of my favorite kitchen registry must haves for your newlywed home. Keep in mind, some of these items might be on the pricier side, but that’s the beauty of a gift registry!

Your guests will spend what they feel comfortable spending, and oftentimes groups will pool their funds to buy a larger item.

When you create your wedding registry, be sure to add items in a range of price points to fit a variety of budgets!

Kitchen Registry List

1. Pyrex Prep Bowls
with Matching Lids

A variety of mixing bowls will definitely come in handy, and I particularly love this set of Pyrex Prep Bowls. It comes in four different sizes: 1 quart, 1.5 quarts, 2 quarts, and 3 quarts and they are made of stain and odor-resistant clear glass so you can see what is stored in them.

The bowls nest within one another so it saves on space – (very important in our teeny-tiny NYC kitchen.) Each bowl has its own lid for easy food storage and transport! We use these a ton and I couldn’t recommend them more! We also own this Pyrex set which has even more sizes/shapes and uses!

2. Colorful Chopping Mats

In addition to a great wooden cutting board, I really recommend getting something similar to this set of four chopping mats. The mats are color-coded to help you keep your seafood, meats, vegetables, and poultry separated during preparation. (Hubby says this is important!)

The mats are made from a flexible material that is dishwasher safe and also allows you to transfer foods easily. We switch them out between food items and I feel like it’s good to put them on top of your good cutting board to keep it looking new longer.

3. Keurig K75 Platinum

I LOVE coffee, but E doesn’t touch the stuff. I never saw the point in brewing a whole pot of coffee just for myself because it would either A- go to waste, or B- I would drink the entire pot and give myself heart palpitations. Neither one was a good option for me.

I was pleasantly surprised after trying out my parent’s Keurig at how great the coffee was in a single cup brewer- so I added it to my Christmas list. Mom and Dad surprised me with it as a ‘housewarming’ gift when E & I moved into our NYC apartment! Obsessed would be putting it mildly– and I’m always on the lookout for discounts on K-Cups! (I recommend hitting Bed Bath & Beyond armed with a 20% off coupon!)

4. Stoneware Bakeware

These Rachael Ray Stoneware pieces are perfect for entertaining because they can go from oven to table and look so chic! They come in a variety of colors as well to match your home decor. This 2 piece set has a medium and a large baker depending on the size of your dish. I love when items are cute and functional and these definitely fit the bill.

5. A Good Knife Set

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from having a chef for a husband, it’s that the knives make ALL the difference. A good knife can cut through meat and veggies with little to no effort. The less force you have to put into cutting your food, the better!

Go ahead and ‘splurge’ by registering for a nice set of knives – even if no one purchases them from your registry you can enjoy 15% off and purchase them for yourself as part of your Target registry perks!

6. KitchenAid Mixer

This is the holy grail of kitchen registry items. Every bride wants one… I mean, who can resist when they come in a rainbow of beautiful colors? We use ours quite often and not just for baking! It also comes in handy for making mashed potatoes, and trust me- you’ll want it when you’re cooking a big meal like Thanksgiving- it will save you so much time and make your prep so efficient!

There are tons of different attachments that you can add-on to this beauty to fulfill a multitude of functions. Trust me on this– you want a KitchenAid, ladies!

7. Stainless Steel Pots
& Pans Set

My hubby loves his stainless steel pots and pans set! He swears that the stainless steel cooks much more evenly and nicely than anything else he’s tried – and he does all the cooking so I trust him 😉

He recommends going stainless for your cookware, but you’ll probably want to purchase or register for some non-stick items as well for things like eggs! A good set of pots and pans can last you decades, so sometimes it pays to get the more expensive ones.

8. Slow Cooker

As I’ve already said, I don’t do much cooking. Like, barely anything at all. But from time to time, the hubs will ask me to take care of dinner- and on those days I turn to my trusty Crock Pot. You see, a slow cooker can make it seem like you know how to cook, even if you can barely fry up a grilled cheese without burning down the house. (Um, yeah- that would be me.)

With the ridiculous amount of amazingly delicious slow cooked recipes I’m constantly pinning on Pinterest, I doubt I’ll be ditching my Crock Pot anytime soon. It’s just TOO easy to throw in a bunch of ingredients in the morning and come home to a delicious meal ready to scarf after work. Trust me– you’ll love it.

9. Everyday Flatware Set

Obviously, you’ll need a good set of everyday flatware for your kitchen registry list– I really like this set from Oneida. With its flat, squared design, it brings a clean, modern look to your table.

This set includes eight five-piece place settings, plus some serving utensils. Great set at a great price- and super chic as well!

10. Everyday dishes

If you don’t already have a set of everyday dishes, I’m a big fan of this set from Target. For $60- you get 4 place settings that include a bowl, salad plate, dinner plate, and coffee mug. I’m a big fan of choosing white dishes for your everydays, because then you can mix and match colored pieces in throughout the year if you’d like because they match everything. (Plus I just have a weird thing about eating from colored or patterned dishes… don’t ask me why…) I really like the square design- it feels a bit more modern!

Kitchen Registry Items

Like I mentioned before, I found all of these kitchen registry items on Target’s website. Did you know when you sign up for Target’s Gift Registry, you get to choose a day after your wedding to take 10% off any unpurchased items from your registry? And if you have a RedCard you get an extra 5% off! Now that’s budget savvy! 😉
