Did you do any DIY Projects or create any handmade items for your wedding?
We had a friend, who is a watercolor artist, paint pictures of our dogs. We turned those paintings into stickers for wedding favors!
What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
Because we met at the dog park, we included our dogs on our ceremony.
We included Cactus Cooler, a soda unique to the southwest, as beverages for our guests.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
For Jordan, the most memorable moment was the first look.
For me, it was getting to have my dad and my grandfather walk me down the aisle.
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
There were a few things! We did not serve alcohol at our wedding. We did a lot of research into caterers and getting the best pricing. Instead of paying for flowers, we traded services with our florist and built a fence in her backyard. Lastly, we ordered cupcakes from a local grocery store bakery instead of a big cake.
What was your biggest splurge?
The places we were willing to spend money were on our photographer and our venue. Our photos are the only tangible thing we have leftover from our big day, and we wanted to make sure they were the best.
We also were willing to spend money on a venue in order to fit our needs and get married in a beautiful place.
What was your favorite detail?
Our favorite detail was having our dogs a part of our ceremony. One was the flower pup, and the other was the ring bearer!
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
The best advice we can give is to plan the wedding you want to have. Don’t do things just to make other people happy!
