How did you meet?
We met in kindergarten and did kindergarten through third grade together. My family moved north in our county, but we reconnected in college when we went to school an hour from each other.
What is your proposal story?
I walked out onto the back deck of the house we were renting and our dog Moose had a shirt on that said: “Please Say Yes.” I looked over and Andrew had a ring in his hand and was down on one knee!

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding (your vision, color, style, and location choices).
I was very set on getting married in a barn, and not being hot at my wedding so we chose December and found a barn to get married in. We live in Indiana but we are from New York and that is where all of our family lives but the people in our lives who have become family are all in the mid-west so it was really important to us to get married where the people who have become our family are.
I did not go with a color scheme, I used the barn as our scheme. Our wedding was more of a tailgate feeling to it than a fancy wedding.
Tell us about your attire choices.
We really wanted that tailgate feeling but wanted to have some nice photos from actually getting married so I wore an actual wedding dress and changed into my leggings, flannel, and crocs. I couldn’t take my dress off fast enough to get into our comfy clothes!

What was most important to you, was there anything you chose to splurge on or skip?
The most important was that our dogs were a part of our day and that the day felt like us. I skipped a lot of the traditional wedding reception things, including a DJ. We made our own playlist on Spotify and had amazing speakers.
We did kinda splurge on good food, an open bar, and sunflowers!
What were your favorite parts of the day?
Seeing all of our people in the same room from all of our walks of life, and the AMAZING photos at the covered bridge.

Tell us about your wedding flowers.
They HAD to be sunflowers. I gave 100% control of all things flowers to our florist.
Tell us about your cake.
We did not have one. Instead, we had a s’mores bar and Andrew’s family friend made cookies for the tables.

What did you dof or favors?
We didn’t do wedding favors but we did AMAZING hotel bags filled with all of our favorite snacks and drinks because most of our guests stayed at the hotel.
Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.
I ordered the coolest guest book, it is a wooden circle with our names and the date on it and I had everyone sign it in rose gold paint marker.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
Don’t do things because they are “traditional” or because others want/expect it to be a specific way. Do it as authentically as possible so you have the best time, and make sure you get pictures with that best friend who is running around taking care of everything for you!!
