Did you do any DIY Projects or create any handmade items for your wedding?

The bridesmaids used Gilmore Girls coffee cups because the bride loves Gilmore Girls, and took pictures with them. In the ceremony, we did foot washing and had a bridesmaid and groomsman sing a worship song. Our favorite Bible verse was written on a banner and our guest book was a Bible guest book. We also had ice cream for dessert as we love ice cream! We shared a private last dance which was so intimate while our guests got ready for our sparkler exit. The boys did a game day entrance for the wedding (which now has over 5 million views on TikTok!)

What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

We broke terracotta pots and made them into table numbers and signs for around the wedding. We also handmade our welcome sign and special signs (ice cream sign, guest book sign, and the bride and groom sign at the sweetheart table). We made the floral arrangements and dried floral centerpieces. We created the invitations and all paper products! Finally, we decorated the ceremony and arch ourselves, which was also behind our sweetheart table at the reception.

What is the most memorable moment of your day?

Dancing and enjoying the night with our friends and family! It rained on our wedding day, so we moved the ceremony inside. We decided to make the most of it and it didn’t stop us from enjoying ourselves, having fun all day, and treasure getting married!

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

We used family and friends to fill gaps where we weren’t able to hire a vendor. (Our friend who is a sound technician ran our playlist, my sister who is a wedding planner planned our wedding for us, my brother in law was our musician, our cousin bakes and made our wedding cake, my coworker altered my wedding dress, my moms best friend made our charcuterie board, friend officiated the wedding, and so forth). It really took a village and was a big team effort!

What was your biggest splurge?

Our venue was our biggest splurge! We decided to spend a little more on the venue than originally planned as the staff was amazing and it came with so many things we were wanting. The venue came with rentals that we loved and a great space that made it all worth it! They had an awesome plan B for when it rained and the venue staff took care of every detail for us on the day.

What was your favorite details?

We loved our amazing charcuterie board that our friend put together for cocktail hour. But in terms of the decor, our personalized sign with our favorite verse on it was so special (Psalm 34:4).

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

Minimize the amount of decisions you have to make by not trying to blow every question out of proportion. There are many great things you can do during wedding planning or choose for your wedding, but take some steps back, make decisions and stick with them!

Share any additional details you’d like us to know about your event:

Overall, it was a beautiful day that we really feel like we were able to enjoy and have beautiful memories of thanks to the help of so many. We didn’t overly enjoy the stresses of wedding planning, but loved our wedding day so much! We are thankful we were able to spend what we were comfortable with and lucky to share our beautiful day with family and friends.
