How many guests did you have?

We had 171 guests attend the wedding.

How did you meet?

Oddly enough we studied engineering at the same university, we have common extended friends but we didn’t meet until we started to work together in 2012.

What is your proposal story?

We used to run together during our lunch break at work and sometimes on the weekends. Eric proposed during a run. It was private and perfect.

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding choices.

We wanted something low-key that wouldn’t break the bank. We wanted a mix of indoor and outdoor space and a venue that would allow us to bring in our own caterer. We selected Parish Hill at North Park.

Tell us about your attire choices.

I wanted a simple, lightweight dress but I didn’t want to break the bank by shopping smaller boutiques. After a 2 hour search at MB Bride, my consultant dug through boxes in the “incoming” supply room and found my dress. I added embellishments to make the style my own and a bit more comfortable.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning?

Food and music were on the top of our list.

Tell us about your wedding flowers.

I made my own bouquets by creating fabric flowers within my color schemes and blending them with brooches and a few other accents. The centerpieces used flowers from the dollar store.

Tell us about your wedding cake.

We decided to serve mini pies rather than cake. I made 4 versions of pie with the help of a few friends.

What did you do for favors?

We created custom wedding koozies for our favors to our guests. We figured they could use them during the wedding to help identify their drink (if they set it down for a bit) and to keep their drink cold – it was nearly 80 degrees!

Did you do any DIYs?

We made most of the signs and boards, decorated the barn ourselves, made the bouquets and centerpieces, and Eric’s band was the entertainment!

What were your favorite parts of the day?

This question is difficult to answer. We had fun throughout the entire event. It was really chaotic and busy but it was wonderful to celebrate with all of our friends and family. We enjoyed the photo session after the first look and also our private ceremony – where we actually got married!

But having The Virtuals (Eric’s band) play was great too!
