What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
We got married on Halloween, so we created a spooky drink menu and included little touches of Halloween here and there with our decor. We also displayed photos of us in Halloween costumes from when we were little!
Did you do any DIY projects or create any handmade items for your weddings?
Our drink menu, our signs, and our invitations were primarily designed by me. I also created a trick or treat table with Halloween decor.
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
We printed our invitations through printsoflove and designed them with a template from Etsy. This saved us tons of money! We are very creative people, so we did our best to DIY as many things as possible, and it made it so much more special for us.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
People told me this a lot while I was planning, but I completely understand it now – The day will absolutely fly by. It’s so important to not worry about the little things. The day is about you and your partner, and many of the little things you may be worrying about will be overlooked by everyone else.
I don’t regret any of the things that I spent time on, but it would have still been so beautiful without the millions of little details that I put into it.
What was your biggest splurge?
The biggest splurge was my wedding dress. After alterations, it ended up being more expensive than what we had intended on spending, but it was so beautiful and worth it!
What was your favorite detail?
I don’t know if I can really choose a favorite detail! There were so many things that were so special to us. I absolutely loved my bridal bouquet. Everything about it was beautiful, but the sunflowers in it especially. It represented my step dad who was watching from Heaven. We had a bunch of little details like this throughout the entire wedding that were little reminders of very important people and things to us.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
The most memorable moment is how I felt when we were about to say our “I dos.” There are no words to describe the happiness and excitement that I felt in that moment. I was so overwhelmed, I couldn’t help but tear up all over again.
Share any additional information you’d like us to know about.
Our photographer and videographer were absolutely amazing. It is months later and I’m still constantly reliving our special day through the photos and videos that they captured for us. I couldn’t be more grateful to have had them document our wedding!
