Did you do any DIY Projects or create any handmade items for your wedding?

I hand made our cake! I also made our centerpieces which were hand sculpted trees with a mini stack of books sitting on them.

I hand made our wedding seating chart which was an old picture frame I found at Goodwill. I spray painted it gold and glued moss and books to it. Each table was a “chapter”.

What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

I really wanted to mash both my husband’s interests and mine into our wedding which was majorly focused on nature and books we both love.

What is the most memorable moment of your day?

Our vows; the words we promised each other.

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

I frantically researched venues to find the one that met my ideals but would also be willing to discount if I paid in full. It also had to include the majority of my needs. Monarch Meadows was perfect and Cindy the event handler was amazing. It felt like having my mom there. I must have called over 100 venues!

What was your biggest splurge?

My dress was the biggest splurge.

What was your favorite detail?

My hand-sculpted tree center pieces.

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

Don’t stress! Stay with your partner! Your day is for the both of you – not anyone else.

At the end of the day nothing went how I planned, but everything was perfect because my husband was finally my husband.
