Urban Cliffside Styled Shoot in Austin

Submitted by:  Nikk Nguyen Photo

What was your design inspiration?

Nikk Nguyen wanted to showcase both sides of Austin, so this inspirational styled shoot began at the historic Driskill Hotel. From there, the couple sauntered through the downtown streets before heading to a dreamy mountaintop ceremony. Immediately following, the couple shared an intimate dinner at Mount Bonnell on Lake Austin.

From the photographer:

“Being an Austin, Texas wedding photographer means you need to know the best spots in town. You want to be able to offer inspiration to those preparing for their big day. That’s why I chose the locations you’ll see in this urban and cliffside boho styled shoot. It’s definitely another incredible inspiration shoot in the books and one that didn’t disappoint in the least!

It was loads of fun to put together and photograph and with all of the roaming around the city. This was the first shoot where I’ve actually needed a dedicated assistant just to carry my bag! Needless to say, there was a lot of walking involved! We kicked off this epic shoot by hijacking the lobby of the Driskill Hotel to get ready. I am super thankful to Driskill Hotel for being so great to work with because the images that we got in there are amazing!

From the hotel, we started our trek throughout the city snapping photos all along the way. It was a super hot day to be out and about, but our team was dedicated to producing the best shoot possible. I think it’s safe to say we succeeded!

For the last part, we headed to Mount Bonnell to capture some breathtaking cliffside ceremony shots. I wanted to make sure we incorporated the sunset and I knew this was the place to do it! After getting some heart-stopping ceremony images we finished off the shoot by popping a bottle of champagne. Sharing a toast to another successful boho wedding inspiration shoot was a great way to end the day!”

Describe your flowers.

Wildly Cultivated designed an organic bouquet, gorgeous altar install and statement-making centerpiece. Each piece was created with pink blooms and frothy fronds for a soft, approachable vibe. Loot Vintage provided the simple metal altar for al-fresco vows.

Tell us about your attire choices.

A flower crown, simple jewels, and loose, beachy waves play perfectly with the Alexandra Grecco dress from Unbridaled. This dress was chosen by Amber from Ubridaled.

From Amber, “When Nikkolas reached out about his styled shoot I knew the Amelie gown by Alexandra Grecco was the perfect choice. Not only did it match the model’s sweet and feminine look, but it had all of the right elements for an urban meets bohemian vibe. The perfect blend of chic sophistication for a swanky downtown hotel yet also playful bohemian touches for a cliff-side ceremony at sunset. I love how the floral appliques on the dress played off of the floral arrangement created by the uber-talented Wildly Cultivated and also just picked up on the organic elements of the Mount Bonnell setting.”

Describe the tablescape elements.

This rustic bohemian elopement looks right at home among the cedars and winding Colorado River atop Mount Bonnel. This boho tablescape inspired by elements of nature featuring natural mud cloth napkins and antlers gets a glam upgrade with chic pops of gold and marbled flatware by Austin ceramicist, Eliana Bernard.
