What was your budget?

Our budget was $7,000.

  • MadDash wedding: $6,000 (included the food, DJ, flowers, venue, photographer, cake, everything!)
  • Day-of Clothing, Hair, Makeup, etc: $1,000

How many guests did you have?

We had 38 guests, our immediate family and a handful of close friends.

What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

One of our personal aspects was the suit that Chad wore. It was one that I custom designed for him through work. Luckily, I was able to get a little extra fabric from the lining and made a pocket square to give him the day of the wedding. I also made a bracelet from a necklace that was my grandmothers to wear on the day of. I had to get a little creative with adding some ribbon to it, but it turned out great. I also had a pin from my other grandmother that I used to hold some of her wedding dress fabric in place under my skirt. Both of those ladies meant so much to me so it was great to have them represented in some way.

Did you do any DIY projects or create any handmade items for your weddings?

The teacup flowers that were our favors were DIY! My mom and I went through every antique and thrift shop looking for perfect, individual ones (that weren’t more than $3 a piece!). We found a lot of pieces, and went to the farmers market to find flowers to fill them with.

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

Using MadDash to plan our wedding was our biggest money saver. They take care of every aspect of the wedding for one set price. Included we had: invitations, photographer, decorations, cake (and doughnuts!), three-course meal, a DJ, florals, the house to use, and the timeline laid out for us!

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

Best advice would be to make the day about you! Make sure you and your spouse are on the same page, and try not to worry about what other people have going on!

What was your biggest splurge?

The sit-down dinner for our reception was our biggest splurge. It was important to us to have our first “family meal” with our closest friends and newly joined family. MadDash was able to accommodate and put together a catered dinner that was amazing.

What was your favorite detail?

The doughnuts!! We both love doughnuts (it’s a serious problem for us on the weekends) and MadDash was able to use that and get us a few different flavors for a really unique dessert table.

What is the most memorable moment of your day?

The most memorable moment was the first look. We were on the fence if we wanted to do one or not, but Brooke with MadDash recommended that we do one, and we are so glad that we did. It was a great way to calm down and really take in what we were doing that day. In hindsight, I am so glad we did one!
