DIY Wedding Organization: 99 Days and Counting…

OMG! I’m going to be a Mrs. in 99 days…99 DAYS!

Whoa… now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, I thought I’d share with you how I’m organizing everything. I like my wedding binder the same way I like to cook—from scratch. It’s the only way for me to get exactly what I want. And I think a DIY wedding binder is the best way to go for DIY brides.

I combined ideas offered by Beth from Design Your Dwelling, Katherine from Just Lovely, and the organizer of ALL organizers, Alejandra Costello. My binder is an ever evolving work, but here’s the rundown of what I used to put it together.


  • 12 Zipper Binder Pockets
  • Sheet Protectors (as needed)
  • 1 Large Binder
  • Sticker Tabs – For use as dividers

Of these supplies, the only thing I didn’t have in my personal office supply chest were zipper binder pockets. Initially I was using sheet protectors for everything, but found them to be inadequate alone. I had too many things spilling out of my binder and the zipper pockets help to keep things in their proper place no matter their size. Alejandra made a fabulous video tutorial on how to organize home warranties, and I found her idea to be the perfect solution to my problem. Zipper binder pockets can be purchased from a number of places. I bought mine from Staples with a coupon of course.

Printable planning sheets are a great way to get started in your planning, and the Internet is chock full of FREE checklists. I started making my own planning sheets and checklists once we started planning our wedding; I found that to be easiest for me. However, I have found the printable resources to be of great value when it comes to planning considerations.

I won’t bore you with the details of how my tabs are broken down because I don’t want to reinvent the wheel. Beth and Katherine covered it very well and include links to a number of FREE printables. I encourage you to check them out and decide for yourself how to organize your details. It is such a matter of preference and one size doesn’t fit all.
