What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

We chose to have cookies for our dessert as our wedding was on Sunday and that is our Sunday tradition. We also had a mutual friend officiate the wedding who knew both of us very well. This made it all very personable and memorable.

Did you do any DIY projects or create any handmade items for your weddings?

I hand-lettered our signs. I wanted to keep it simple, stress-free, and cost-effective because I felt our venue had so much to it already.

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

The biggest thing I did to save money was to make a budget and then actually stick to it. I made sure to keep the mentality that even if $25 in the grand scheme of the budget seemed minuscule, it would add up over time. It forced me to only spend money on the things that truly mattered to us.

We also chose to save on a DJ by doing our own music, which was well worth the effort for us!

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

Do your best to be present and mindful during the entire process. Each step in the planning, every moment of excitement, and even the stress goes by so quickly! Journaling was my method for doing this and I believe it helped a lot.

What was your biggest splurge?

My dress of course! We had set our budget at $1,000 and I found mine for $1,300 in the stores. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to find it used on PreownedWeddingDresses.com and it had never been worn or altered.

What were your favorite details?

My favorite detail was our officiant and his message. He was a mutual best friend of ours. We outlined what we wanted in a ceremony and he truly made it unforgettable. That, along with Jordan’s vows made the ceremony my absolute favorite part of the day.

What is the most memorable moment of your day?

Our ceremony was the most memorable part of the day. While Jordan was saying his vows, there was a moment where everything really hit me. The gravity of getting to spend the rest of my life with Jordan sunk in. I made sure to journal extra about this moment!
