How many guests did you have?
We had about 110 guests.
What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
Ryan and I both wanted our wedding to be very laid back. We wanted it to be a big party for all our friends and family. With all the decisions we made, we kept this in mind. We heard numerous times that our wedding was “so us”, I don’t know exactly what we did to make it personal but I think we succeeded!
Did you do any DIY projects or create any handmade items for your weddings?
With help from my sisters and mom, I made the cross that was at our ceremony, the wreaths that hung on the barn doors, the bouquets and the flower crowns wore by my bridesmaids. We also put together the centerpieces from bottles at thrift shops and craft stores, wooden slabs cut by my father-in-law, fake flowers/moss, and candles. Our guest book was a DIY project made by my husband.
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
The biggest thing we did to save money was do everything ourselves. We did a lot of thrift shopping for decorations and used silk flowers for centerpieces and bouquets.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
The best advice I could give someone is to make a final decision about details and stick to it. I spent a lot of time changing my mind throughout our engagement. I had a hard time saying no when people were making suggestions.
What was your biggest splurge?
Our biggest splurge was the caterer. We originally did not budget as much as we spent, but when we saw how awesome everything about MozzaPi was we had to have them at our wedding! It was worth it.
What was your favorite detail?
My favorite detail was the centerpieces.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
My most memorable moment of the day was our exit from the ceremony. We went to each row and dismissed them to the reception. It was so nice to see everyone that traveled to celebrate with us.
