Shelley + Steve's laid-back Texas celebration proves you don’t need a grand venue or massive guest list to have a wedding that’s full of heart. With a meaningful courthouse ceremony, a cozy reception at Rudy’s, and a soundtrack courtesy of a live saxophone player, this couple kept things entirely their own. Every choice was made with intention—and we’re so excited to share their story with you.

What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

We had a saxophone player at our wedding.

What is the most memorable moment of your day?

The most memorable moment of the day for us was taking photos will all of our guests and spending time with them.

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

The biggest thing we did to save money was getting married at the courthouse with a reception at Rudy’s. The party room was free, so we just had to pay for the food.

What was your biggest splurge?

The photographer! Photographs are very important to us.

Photography is one of my husband’s many passions. We wanted a good photographer and didn’t mind paying for the quality we received.

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

I planned our wedding in a very short period of time and did not have to have a lot of input from a lot of people. This way it was what I wanted and we saved a ton of money.

We had our immediate families and our closest friends in attendance which was what mattered to us the most.
