What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
Since we canceled our wedding 3 times, we tried to incorporate as much of our original plans into our day as possible. We created a slide show for our guests as they entered the zoom meeting, and a countdown featuring our dog for more time for late comers. Our favorite music was played for our opening and our first dance and sand ceremony. We also played a creative video for our guests to transition into our virtual reception.
Did you do any DIY projects or create any handmade items for your weddings?
I painted our cake topper and decorated our entire living room for the event. Not to much DIY.
Tell us about your wedding flowers.
I absolutely loved using Something Borrowed Blooms. I had my eyes on them for a while because I’m not a big fan of flowers nor did I want to spend a bunch of money on flowers, so a silk bouquet to rent was perfect! I actually won a $100 gift card from one of their Instagram giveaway. Customer service was so amazing to work with when I was going through all the drama of changing my wedding 3 times. My flowers arrived early and made my pictures and wedding day so beautiful. The product and the customer service is 10 out of 10 stars. I would recommend them to any and every bride!
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
Not have an in person wedding. Our original budget for our wedding was $25,000 but since we didn’t want to plan another wedding and we’re ready to get married now we saved $20,000!
What was most important to you two? Was there anything you chose to splurge on or skip?
My biggest splurge was my dress because I was planning for a big wedding. If I’d had the idea of doing the zoom wedding originally, I probably wouldn’t have spent so much on my dress. But I’m so happy that I still go to wear it and I got to wear it twice – once for pictures and once for our actual day!
What was your favorite detail?
My favorite detail was decorating our home and having our dinner table as our head table. Our speeches were the absolute best and being able to share that with all our friends and family was amazing!
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
Our day was absolutely amazing. Everything about a zoom wedding was perfectly us. But my favorite was when my husband surprised me with a hotel that evening after dinner. It was such a special night and surprise!
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
Don’t count out a zoom wedding especially during this time of a pandemic. All our family and friends are still raving about our day and they were so happy to be part of the magic while staying safe and healthy. We were able to invite way more individuals because it was virtual and our wedding was 1 hour and 30 minutes long. Short, sweet, to the point, but effective. It was definitely a day to remember for me and my husband, our favorite day ever!
