What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
We spent a week in Myrtle Beach surrounding the wedding as a getaway trip combined with the big celebration!
Did you do any DIY projects or create any handmade items for your weddings?
We made a DIY Seating Chart, and also DIY’ed our Bouquets.
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
Planning ahead! We planned everything well ahead of time. For instance, we bought a couple of bottles of alcohol at a time over the course of a year so we could provide the alcohol much more affordably.
Our friends and family were also a HUGE help. They served food and helped clean, set up, and take down. My hair and nails were paid for by a friend. My mother and mother-in-law cooked for the wedding party the days we spent in the hotel. The cake was provided by my matron of honor’s father at no cost and her husband DJ’ed for free too. There were MANY more things that could have added up that were taken care of by family and friends and we greatly appreciate everything contributed!!!
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
Plan well ahead of time if possible and pay off everything in advance if you can! This will give you fewer things to worry about on the day of.
Also, don’t sweat the small details (no one will notice) and try to eat beforehand! I probably took 4 bites of my dinner before I was whisked away!
What was your biggest splurge?
Getting two 3 bedroom suites for 5 days in Myrtle Beach during peak season for the wedding party.
What was your favorite detail?
My hair and make-up.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
Just watching the mixture of the two families. It was ALL LOVE AND GOOD VIBES!
