What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

A lot of DIY (flowers, decors, makeup and hair, and a Spotify playlist). We also included homemade food prepared by my mom, my aunt and my grannie.

We wanted a casual wedding outdoors, surrounded by our closest family and friends, with delicious food and good wine. We wanted the kind of wedding where guests are encouraged to bring a swimsuit in addition to their ‘Sunday best’!

We also created a treasure hunt for guests to enjoy themselves during cocktail hour.

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

The biggest thing we did to save money was not having a lot of decorations. Another thing we did was opt for a buffet instead of a 3 or 4 course meal!

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

Try to find a balance between staying open-minded and listening to others while still sticking to what you truly want for your wedding day.

What was your biggest splurge?

Our biggest splurge was photography for sure! It was very important to us as it’s the only tangible thing afterwards.

What was your favorite detail?

The outdoor area – it was simply stunning! From the pool to the lake, to being surrounded by nature, it was northern Québec at its summery best.

Is there something you would have done differently – or something you would do more of – if you could do it again?

We would have probably hired a wedding planner to alleviate some of the stress! Planning a wedding as a couple is no easy feat to say the least.

What is the most memorable moment of your day?

When we exchanged our vows (my mother gave me a tissue for my tears in the middle of it). It was vulnerable, beautiful, and a moment I’ll always cherish. Another memorable moment was dancing my pants off to ABBA’s classic hits with all my loved ones right by my side!
