How did you meet?
I am from Sydney, Australia, and Justin is from Los Angeles. We met on a dating app when I was visiting family in LA and Justin was home on leave.
What is your proposal story?
Justin proposed when we were on vacation in Australia. He surprised me in the rainforest on beautiful Fitzroy Island.
Tell us about your wedding vision.
My vision for our wedding was a mix of modern and classic with nature tied in all aspects of the day. The color palette was white, gold, navy blue, with greenery to accent these colors. I chose the location as I loved the idea of an outdoor reception, the courtyard, garden, and mountain backdrop was perfect.
Tell us about your attire choices.
I chose a long-sleeved wedding dress with a long veil as it was beautiful but also a little unique.
Justin wore his Marine Corps uniform which complimented my dress and the bridesmaids navy blue gowns.
What was most important to you two? Was there anything you chose to splurge on or skip?
The most important part of planning for me was creating the vision I had in mind while sticking to a strict budget.
We chose to splurge on photography as I felt it was the most important to capture our day perfectly.
Our florist was also amazing in fulfilling my vision within a tight budget.
What were your favorite parts of the day?
Our favorite part of the day was just celebrating with out two families together as they had never met before.
Tell us about your wedding flowers.
My vision for the flowers was lots of greenery with white flowers. Having a cascading bouquet and florals on the arch was very important to me and Jennifer our florist was so accommodating within our small budget.
Tell us about your wedding cake.
Our wedding cake was a simple lemon-flavored single-tier “naked” cake. We chose to save money on the cake and also have a small dessert bar. Both were taken care of by Cute Cakes who did a fantastic job!
Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.
I sourced some decorations myself from Etsy such as the cake topper and table numbers. I chose to DIY the seating chart and also organized a Polaroid camera and guest book.
