Did you do any DIY Projects or create any handmade items for your wedding?

I did not, but I had a jean jacket special ordered with my new last name embroidered on the back!

What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

We included personal touches for our attire. My husband loves to fish, so his tie had fishing hooks on it. He is also a U.S. Marine Corps Officer, so he wore socks with his squadron’s mascot for our big day.

What is the most memorable moment of your day?

It felt so special and magnificent to become each other’s partner in crime for forever in front of the majestic nature of Lake Tahoe and its beauty.

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

The biggest thing we did to save money was deciding to simply elope and not have anyone with us on our special day.

We ended up going on a hike after our ceremony. We changed back into our wedding outfits afterwards for a nice dinner in a restaurant that had a beautiful view.

What was your biggest splurge?

We stayed at a very nice hotel while in Tahoe, which was our biggest splurge. We wanted everything to be special about that weekend!

What were your favorite details?

I loved my bouquet so much!

Our vendor, Simply Eloped, made this day go smoothly. Our coordinator Allison Kelley did such an amazing job. Flowers were delivered on time, and we had no trouble finding our ceremony spot in the state park.

The officiator, Meghan, was very kind and professional, and our photographer Irina was terrific.

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

Plan the wedding that you and your significant other want to have. This is your big day, and not your mom’s.
