What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
I wanted my wedding to be timely, romantic, and classic. I included pearls that were my great-grandmothers as my something old and did something blue on the bottom of my shoes.
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
We decided to keep the reception small and intimate, but we also opted to have our wedding reception at a restaurant that served as the perfect spot. The food was excellent and because it was at the restaurant we had an area reserved for our reception which included the little extras like the tables, linens, and place settings.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
Roll with what the universe gives ya! We had so many ups and downs leading up to the actual day – many of which were out of our control being a COVID bride. Also, don’t let others tell you how to have your wedding; be unapologetically true to yourself as a couple and your wants.
What was your biggest splurge?
The biggest splurge was my photographer. Having the right photographer is so important to making your memories last and being able to showcase them in a way that is your style. You’ll have them forever and want to look back at the incredible memories forever.
What was your favorite detail?
My hair! Brittany at B.young beauty did an amazing job on my hair and last minute my (now) mother-in-law had two tiny hair clips she didn’t use in her hair. We added them to my hair as a small detail last minute and it was the perfect extra to accent my hair with my veil. It was a subtle touch.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
The rain, but not for why you would think. Of course, at first, I was in tears and overwhelmed with emotion that it was going to rain all day on my wedding day. I had already changed my plans so many times because of the uncertainty of COVID, but I will never forget our wedding because of the rain. The photos we were able to get with our umbrellas were so unique and made a memory to stand out with for forever looking back.
