What was your budget?
We didn’t really have a budget exactly, just knew we could not spend a lot of money. I think we had about $3k in the wedding by the time it was said and done.
- Photography: $1000
- Attire: $500
- Rings: $2000
- Decor: $200
How many guests did you have?
We had about 90 guests.
What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
Almost everything, from the setting (our personal home farm) to the decor were handmade with tons of help from friends and family
Did you do any DIY projects or create any handmade items for your weddings?
Everything! The only thing that wasn’t DIY-ed was the tent, chairs and attire.
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
We bought things as we could afford them instead of buying everything at once. We made payments when we could, and we always asked ourselves if what were spending on really mattered to us. We didn’t spend money on the things we were only going to use once or didn’t really care if it was there or not
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
Keep it simple. All that matters is that you get married to the person of your dreams. Fussing and spending over little (or big!) things that in the out come won’t make a difference or won’t be remembered is added stress and debt.
What was your biggest splurge?
Photography. It was the one aspect we did not want to skimp on. These photos will be with us and our loved ones forever. Also our rings, we saved up and didn’t get anything crazy huge or fancy but we also wanted something nice and we’d be proud of.
What was your favorite detail?
I loved our setting and our theme. We were married and had the reception at the farm we live on. Our ceremony overlooked the pond and the barn. We had a very rustic yet classy romantic country feel and I loved that aspect.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
The actual getting married part! Realizing all these people are here for you. Seeing Robby for the first time and vowing our lives together,.all while being in our element, somewhere we were comfortable and familiar with.
