What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

The bride and groom included many borrowed, gifted and vintage items for their special day that were sentimental. Handmade quilts were used as centerpieces and table decorations on the reception tables! There were also many items – like the bride’s jewelry – that were gifted or borrowed from friends and family.

Did you do any DIY projects or create any handmade items for your wedding?

The bride wore her mother’s bridal gown. She tailored herself just for the occasion. It was a special moment getting the bride into the gown! The groom wore a pin with a photo of both his grandmother and his mother. Since they both have passed away, they could now be there in spirit.

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

They used friends and family for vendors who gave them a discount.

The bride and groom also booked during non-peak wedding season. In Washington state, you never know what the weather will be!

Another way they saved money was by booking a location during a less popular time, and for a shorter duration.

What was your biggest splurge?

Food! 100% the food. The couple wanted their guests to have a good time and eat great comfort food. The vendor they used is a local favorite diner and also has the best catering company!

What was your favorite detail?

Their favorite detail was the ceremony. It was special just being in the beautiful church together. Sitting by one another at the ceremony declaring their love for one another in front of family and friends meant so much to them.

What is the most memorable moment of your day?

The couple’s favorite moment was taking photographs as a married couple during sunset. They were able to get away from the chaos of the day, and just be together with one another for a moment.

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

The bride’s best advice is plan! Plan months in advance. Get it done. The week before don’t do any planning; just take care of those last-minute details. On the day of, go with the flow and really enjoy your moment.
