How did you meet?
We met online (shout out to POF). Ashley was looking for friends, but Ivy was looking for more. Ivy used some cheesy pickup line in Ashley’s DMs and Ashley fell for it hook line and sinker.
What is your proposal story?
We actually talked about getting married 2 weeks after our first date and had picked our rings together. Ivy proposed at the Myriad Botanical Gardens in Oklahoma City as a surprise 2 months after meeting each other.
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
We hunted down items on Facebook marketplace! All of our guest tables and most of the chairs were free! We were able to resell them afterward and get most of our money back. I also checked routinely for sales on items that I was willing to compromise on, so was able to find clearance items and keep stuff in storage until closer to my wedding day. We rented the AirBnB for 2 days so our parents and the bridal party came up the day before the wedding and all helped with the setup.
Tell us a little bit about your wedding (your vision, color, style, and location choices).
We had a very specific day that we wanted to get married. We had found a venue that we really wanted but they were booked! So we decided to get married at the Sushi restaurant where we had our first date.
Tell us about your attire choices.
Ashley wore her mother’s wedding day dress and the citrine necklace she wore on our first date. Ivy wore a seersucker suit that she has always wanted that she found on Ebay.
What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?
We got married on what would have been Ivy’s father’s 77th birthday. Ivy felt that he is the reason for her and Ashley finding each other. Being able to recreate our first date with our close friends and make it official was important to us.
What were your favorite parts of the day?
Random Strangers clapping for us as we said I do.
