How did you meet?
Austin & I met in 10th grade! I used to let him copy my biology homework. We didn’t date right away but we were great friends all through high school
What is your proposal story?
We spent a weekend in Philly for his birthday. We had plans to meet his family for lunch. We did it at the restaurant with his family there. A surprise to me and everyone else on HIS birthday. When I said “but it’s your birthday” he replied “best birthday gift ever.”
Tell us about your wedding vision.
We both love Halloween, scary movies, theme parks, fall weather, etc. so we knew it would be a fun and memorable day. We wanted spooky glam. Dark colors (burgundy, black, white, gold accents).
Tell us about your attire choices.
I knew right away I wanted to wear boots and a leather jacket. Austin ended up choosing a custom velvet jacket and then we bought his pants, shoes, and other attire at Express. My dress was actually second hand and absolutely perfect!
What was most important to you two? Was there anything you chose to splurge on or skip?
The photographer! Obviously, we were excited about the actual marriage part but we wanted the memories to last forever. We skipped the fancy indoor venue and booked a campground instead.
What were your favorite parts of the day?
My favorite part was seeing him cry as I walked down the aisle. Sharing our vows privately was also wonderful and I know Austin and I both loved entering the reception tent & being announced as husband & wife.
Tell us about your wedding flowers.
Ali was phenomenal! She did exactly what we wanted. Deep purples and reds, pops of white, just enough greenery. She even made me a floral hair piece!
Tell us about your wedding cake.
Banana cake with bourbon icing! I mean, cmon. The baker Blayre did wonderfully with the design. Deep purple, black, gold, and the most amazing textures.
What did you do for favors?
Beer cozies from Etsy!
Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.
I made all of the floral vases, table runners, seating chart, and even some of the calligraphy. I went thrifting and spent A LOT of time on Pinterest.
Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?
I carried my grandfather’s ashes with me in a locket down the aisle.
Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
Just try to be patient. Trust your vendors. Breathe. Take in every moment that you can with your significant other. The day flies by!
