This styled shoot was set up on a private property to suit the farm inspired style. We love how they tied in hand me downs, dried florals, and earthy tones to highlight everything the midwest has to offer in late summer/early fall. Enjoy this Boho Farm Inspired Styled Shoot! Xoxo, Jessica

What was your design inspiration?

I really wanted to show that boho look we see so often in the desert and mountains but in a nice midwest farm setting. We tied in hand me downs and family pieces to really give it a warm elopement feel.

Describe your flowers.

Our florals are a mix of dried and silk flowers in earthy tones. We tied in grasses and wheat to really link up that midwest feel.

Describe your cake.

The cake was made by me (Beth Waterman) and is a family bundt recipe, again tying in that family feel.

Tell us about your attire choices.

We wanted to go for a really boho-alternative style. The gown was purchased through Amazon (I know crazy right?) and tied in that flowing lace and light materials.

For the groom, we decided his personality warranted something fun and funky so we chose a red velvet coat with embroidered accents (why should the bride have all the fun?)

Please describe any DIY, handmade or personal details.

The entirety of the location we shot on is on my home property. I utilized hand me down dishes from my grandmothers set along with crystal we pieced together at local Goodwills. I made the cake and also built the farmhouse table. The greenhouse furniture was all built and designed by me as well.

Describe the tablescape elements.

I wanted to keep the table fairly simple so we could go extravagant with the hanging floral chandelier.

Do you have any advice for couples looking to achieve this look on a budget?

Don’t forget what is right in front of you. Use your family gifts, hand me downs, everyday items, and more. This makes your wedding not only affordable but deeply personal.
