How did you meet?

It was the summer of 2014 and I lived in San Clemente, California. Jared was a Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton there and as cliche, as it is, we met at a bar in San Clemente! Despite me knowing he was younger than me, he was just too cute and charming to ignore so I eventually agreed to go out with him.

The rest I guess you can say is history! We have an amazing little girl now and we live in Georgia (where Jared grew up) on our little farm.

What is your proposal story?

So we met in 2014 and moved from California to Georgia in 2016, bought a house and then had our daughter in 2017 and then on April 3rd of 2018 he finally proposed! It was nothing over the top or too glamorous it was perfect because it was just the two of us in our home.

Before bed one night he grabbed me and got down on his knee and popped the question. We had already been talking about getting married for quite some time so it wasn’t a huge surprise but it was the sweetest moment of our relationship!

Tell us about your attire choices.

I am anything but conventional and we chose Vegas for our wedding location so I wanted the attire to be fun and comfortable and a bit edgy or rock n roll. I knew I was going to want a shorter dress which turned into a skirt because of our budget. We wanted to be able to spend more money on the actual trip and having fun rather than the clothes and extras for the wedding without taking too much away from making it feel like a real wedding.

So I went with a white high-low tule skirt that I purchased through Etsy and the top I finally went with was actually a swimsuit top off of Etsy as well. My Jewelry was all Chloe and Isabelle but I purchased them from Poshmark and Ebay.

Jared isn’t into anything fancy. If he had his way, he probably would have shown up in jeans and cowboy boots so I tried to make his attire as casual as possible yet stylish and it looked great on him. We got his shirt vest and pants all from H&M and his shoes were almost brand new but used off of Poshmark as well.

What were your favorite parts of the day?

I think the most fun and memorable moments were with our photographer and walking around Downtown Vegas taking pictures at a bunch of really cool fun spots and murals.

One of the best memories of the day too was that my brother was able to officiate our wedding! It meant so much more coming from someone we are both so close to instead of a stranger.

Also, it was a blast being able to have the after-wedding dinner at the Peppercorn in Vegas. Cheap but awesome food and the ambiance was exactly what I was going for!

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

Our advice would be to do exactly what you as a couple want to do for that special day. You don’t need to spend a fortune to have a beautiful memorable day unless you want to! You also don’t need to have every person you’ve ever met at your wedding unless of course you really want that too.

The day is about the two of you so make it about just the two of you.
We didn’t do something that wasn’t us. We wanted my brother there and wanted to have a fun day and to party at night and that’s what we did and we didn’t break our bank doing it!
