Kelsey + Peter originally wanted a huge, elaborate wedding. It wasn't until they started to plan that Kelsey recognized how overwhelming and costly it would be. She found herself searching the terms "micro wedding" and "elopements" one morning, and fell in love with the idea! This savvy couple made the most of their budget by exchanging vows at a local brewery, surrounded by the rustic charm of wooden barrels and the warm glow of string lights.

What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

A personal aspect we included in our wedding was commissioning our favorite artist to write our first song! We love music and concerts, so this was very fitting for us.

Did you do any DIY projects or create any handmade items for your weddings?

We had our friend (who is an amazing artist) draw our wedding ceremony location and reception. We gave those drawings out on koozies!

I also DIY-ed a sign that had lyrics from our commissioned song.

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

The biggest thing we did to save money was cutting the guest list. Also, hiring Elopement Tampa Bay! Not only were they amazing, but they also made everything so relaxing for us.

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

Our advice would be to not sweat the small stuff. Don’t go into debt for a one day event. Save it for a honeymoon, and a house to start a life together.

After going to look at a few larger venues, I woke up one morning and knew what I wanted: to do the micro wedding route. I knew that this was the right choice; and that we could do it in 2 months. Why wait?

What was your biggest splurge?

The trolley was our biggest splurge. Since we had two locations that involved drinking, and both locations had minimal parking, I wanted an easy way for people to get there and back with out any issues.

What was your favorite detail?

This is a hard one, but I’d have to say my favorite details were both the trolley and the commissioned song!

What is the most memorable moment of your day?

The most memorable moment was having it be small enough where we got to enjoy everyone’s presence. There were 25 people, including us. It was such a nice amount because we got to actually talk to everyone and just be in the moment.

We decided not to skip on the traditional things that happen on your wedding day. I still got ready with friends and family in the morning, still got to do a “first look” with my dad, and got to have a first dance and cake cutting with my husband.

Seeing all of our friends having a blast and hanging out on the trolley was fun!
