What was your budget?
My wedding budget was around $13,000, which was difficult to do for a dream wedding.
Wedding dress: $300
Ceremony location: free
DIY ceremony decor: ~$150
Horse and carriage: $300 per hour
Tux rentals: $100 each
Florals: $150 for supplies, DIY’ed
Food and reception: $5000
Wedding photographer: $3000
How many guests did you have?
We had around 80 guests at our wedding.
What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
My husband is a graphic designer and he made the wedding invitations and save-the-dates. I loved that he created our invitations and many of the signs at the reception.
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
I got married in my fathers back yard, which was ten times more gorgeous than a indoor ceremony. That saved us transportation cost. We also did not rent any limos. Everything was very close and we carpooled to our reception.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
Do not procrastinate! It helps to save on budget when you have the time to plan as many things you can take on yourself, instead of paying someone else to do them. I loved that Josh and I worked together to make our dream wedding come true.
What was your biggest splurge?
Our wedding photographer, Morgan Lindsay Photography. I wanted to remember our photos and feel like superstar. Morgan has a way of making you feel beautiful and calm.
What was your favorite detail?
The dried lavender I chose to carry instead of a real floral bouquet.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
When Josh did a back flip during our grand entrance into the reception!
