Today we have a beautiful wedding to get you in the mood for spring! Pink flowers, an outdoor ceremony and stunning photos…what more could you want? Amanda and Anthony opted for a destination wedding in Savannah with the closest family. Make sure you check out Amanda’s dress! When she couldn’t find anything she wanted within her budget, she worked with a local seamstress. Enjoy this beautiful Savannah elopement! xoxo, Jessica

What was your budget?
Since this was a destination wedding, travel and lodging costs were a large portion of our budget. Our total budget was $5,020.
Lodging: $1,100 ($275/night)
Park Rental: $300
How many guests did you have?
Including ourselves, we had 12 guests.
What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
I believe the most creative aspect of the wedding was my dress. I wanted an all lace, fit & flare dress with a keyhole back, but couldn’t find one even close to my budget. Kim at Rockport Bridals in Lakewood, Ohio became the answer to my prayers. She sketched my own personal design, helped me choose my fabric, and custom made my dress, veil and sash. My stepmom put together a beautiful arrangement of artificial flowers that completed the soft, romantic theme I had envisioned. My husband and his best man wore their Coast Guard uniforms, which were not only easy on the budget, but added a personal touch from our lives.
What was the biggest thing you did to save money?
We kept the wedding as simple and stress free as possible. In lieu of the big, expensive reception with a DJ, fancy decorations, and 100+ guests, we used the fun atmosphere of Savannah to highlight our night. We had an intimate dinner with our immediate family and wedding party, and enjoyed the River Street nightlife.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
The day is about you and your significant other. Do what makes you happy and forget about the rest. We struggled with the idea of keeping the guest list to a minimum, and in all honesty, we had some disappointed family and friends. In the end, they all still love us and so does our bank account. I wouldn’t have done it any other way.
What was your biggest splurge?
Our biggest splurge was staying at the Forsyth Park Inn. We wanted a place close to the ceremony location, so we could get ready in our rooms and walk across the street to the park. Although the final cost of our 4 night stay was slightly over our initial budget, it was well worth it. The Forsyth Park Inn is outstanding! The rooms are beautiful, the views of the park are incredible, and I can’t put into words how amazing the staff is.
What was your favorite detail?
The atmosphere of Savannah is priceless. Everything is beautiful and romantic.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
It had been cloudy all day and there was a chance of rain around the exact time of our wedding. As my dad was walking me down the aisle, the sun came out and shined through the Spanish Moss hanging from the trees onto us. My husband and I took it as a sign that the day was meant to be.
